Rounaq Jahan

Professor Rounaq Jahan is at present a Distinguished Fellow at the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD), Bangladesh. From 1990 to 2009 she was a Senior Research Scholar and Adjunct Professor of International Affairs at the School of International and Public Affairs, Columbia University, USA.Professor Jahan was a Professor of Political Science at Dhaka University (1970-1982),she also worked as the Coordinator of the Women’sProgramme at UN Asia-Pacific Development Center, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. (1982-84), and the Head of the Rural Women’semployment programmeat the International Labour Office, Geneva, Switzerland (1985-89). She has been a Research Fellow at Harvard, Chicago and Boston universities and Chr. Michelsen Institute, Bergen, Norway.Professor Jahan received her Ph.D. in Political Science from Harvard University, USA.
Professor Jahan is the author of several internationally acclaimed books and numerous articles. Her books include:Political Parties in Bangladesh: Challenges of Democratization, 2015;Bangladesh Politics: Problems and Issues,2005 and 1980; Bangladesh: Promise and Performance(editor), 2000; The Elusive Agenda: Mainstreaming Women in Development, 1995; Women and Development: Perspectives from South and South East Asia (co-editor), 1979; and Pakistan: Failure in National Integration, 1972.
