Dr.Manoj Kumar Joshi is a Distinguished Fellow, Observer Research Foundation, New Delhi. He is a journalist, writer, educator, columnist and TV commentator specializing on strategic affairs and national security issues. The author of three books, and several academic papers in professional journals in India and abroad. As a journalist, he  specialized in security issues, going back to the mid-1980s relating to terrorism, Sino-Indian and India-Pakistan conflict, nuclear policy and internal politics. As a reporter, he covered the insurgencies, uprisings and terrorist actions in relation to Punjab, Sri Lanka, Jammu & Kashmir.  He has worked with The Hindu, Times of India, Hindustan Times, India Today, Mail Today and was Washington Correspondent of the Financial Express. He has been part of formal and informal consultation processes of the Government of India. In 2011, he was appointed to be a member of the Naresh Chandra Committee to suggest reforms to India’s national security system. Between 2010-2013, he was a member of the Governing Council of the Indian Council of World Affairs.
