Mr. He Ping, Editor-in-Chief and Deputy Secretary of the Leading Party Members Group of Xinhua News Agency, is also a member of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Commission for Discipline Inspection.
Mr. He Ping was born in Beijing in 1957, and his ancestral home is in Zhejiang Province. He has been working at Xinhua since graduating from the Department of Chinese Language and Literature at Peking University as a journalism major in 1982.
He subsequently served as a reporter and Deputy Director of the political news desk of Xinhua's Domestic News Department, Assistant to the Director of the Domestic News Department, Assistant to the Editor-in-Chief of Xinhua, as well as Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Xinhua and concurrently Director of the Domestic News Department.
From 2000, he served as a member of the Leading Party Members Group, Vice-President and Executive Deputy Editor-in-Chief, Deputy Secretary of the Leading Party Members Group of Xinhua News Agency. In 2007, he was appointed Editor-in-Chief of Xinhua News Agency.
He is the winner of the Fan Changjiang Journalism Award and is among the first to win the “Top 100 Journalists” title. Several of his news stories have won special prizes and placed first in the China Journalism Awards. He is also a recipient of a special allowance from China's State Council.
Mr. He Ping is a member of the 17th, 18th and 19th CPC Central Commissions for Discipline Inspection and a delegate to the 15th, 16th, 17th, 18th and 19th CPC National Congresses. He served as Vice-President of the All-China Journalists' Association.
