The Belt and Road Initiative has brought prosperity to developing countries and helped to foster regional ties, especially through the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB). That is according to former Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama.

Hatoyama also said Japan could contribute to the development of the Belt and Road Initiative by providing aids to developing countries and sharing its technology.

Hatoyama is scheduled to attend the Second Belt and Road Forum for International cooperation to be held in Beijing later this month.
