Czech President Milos Zeman said he expects Czech Republic to further participate in the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative and become a transport hub as well as a banking hub which connects Europe and China.

Zeman made the remarks in an interview before his trip to Beijing to join in the Second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation.

He will bring a large business delegation along with him during his China trip.

In the past years, China and Czech Republic enjoyed rapid development of bilateral relations.

Currently, four direct flight routes have been opened between Chinese cities and Czech Republic’s capital Prague. In busy seasons there are more than 20 flights every week in operation.

Zeman also spoke highly of the bilateral cooperation in financing services. So far, the Bank of China and the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China have set up branches in Prague, providing banking services for local firms.

Zeman also said that he expects more Chinese investments in the Czech Republic, and he welcomes companies to increase their investment in the country.
