China and Argentina are cooperating to build four new wind parks in southern Argentina.

Chinese companies Power China and Goldwind are harnessing the power of the strong winds of Patagonia through the parks Loma Blanca 1, 2, 3, and 4.

The energy from the installation of 80 turbines will add around 256 megawatts to the national electrical system.

"I consider it an excellent initiative, firstly because the two countries are physically very distant, but culturally, it's good that we (complement) each other, that we get to know one another and know what one thinks of the other, and to adapt to working together."

This new project, which aims to transform Argentina's entire energy matrix, is part of the Belt and Road Initiative.

The initiative, launched by China in 2013, seeks to cooperate with countries around the world meet their infrastructure and energy needs, in addition to expanding international trade cooperation.

"Wind parks as well as photovoltaic cells bring work to our country, are the ones that are invested in--and in Argentina. They are welcome."

In addition to this project in Patagonia, China is also developing the photovoltaic plants Cauchari 1, 2, and 3 in Jujuy province as well as the Cafayate solar plant in Salta province, both in the northeast of the country.
