The undertakings of CAITEC cover research, information consultancy, publishing, education and training. The research fields include international trade, international investment, international development cooperation, international trade circulation, multilateral economic trade relations, etc.

Since the Belt and Road Initiative was put forward, the institute has actively participated in the Belt and Road construction, and made suggestions for resolving the difficulties and challenges encountered in the construction of the “Belt and Road” and promoting the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative. In the past five years, the research on the “Belt and Road” led by the institute has gradually extended and refined from connotation, background, opportunities and challenges to the docking of the Belt and Road Initiative and the developing strategies of the countries and regions along the route, regional and country cooperation, capacity cooperation, financial co-operation, culture exchanges, etc., which provides scientific basis and theoretical support for national and local decision-making.
