meets with Stephen Brawer, Chairman of the Belt and Road Institute in Sweden
Liu Gang, president of Xinhua Institute, met with Stephen Brawer, Chairman of the Belt and Road Institute in Sweden on June 14 on the sidelines of the Forum on Global Human Rights Governance.
Liu briefed Brawer on the basics and recent research results of Xinhua Institute, as well as the information of the Belt and Road Studies Network(BRSN) with Xinhua Institute as its secretariat. He said that this year marks the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative, and relevant research has further become the focus of international academia. The BRSN, which has launched a global call for think tank reports, encourages think tanks worldwide to carry out the Belt and Road cooperative research. He added that the Belt and Road Institute in Sweden is welcomed to participate in relevant studies.
Stephen Brawer gave an introduction to the Belt and Road Institute in Sweden. He said that the Belt and Road construction has exerted positive effects in Europe and the world, and many successful cases have emerged and the research on the Belt and Road construction has practical and academic significance. The Belt and Road Institute in Sweden will further carry out various academic researches and cooperation activities based on previous works, and promote further studies on the Belt and Road by the international academic community.
During the meeting, Liu and Brawer also had exchanges on topics of mutual interest. Stephen Brawer was invited to attend the Forum on Global Human Rights Governance in China and delivered a speech during the forum. Jointly hosted by the Information Office of the State Council, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the China International Development Cooperation Agency, organized by Xinhua News Agency and China Society for Human Rights Studies, the Forum on Global Human Rights Governance was held in Beijing from June 14 to 15.
